Here we have deciduous oak forests (the most prolific trees are various oaks, maples, Tulip poplar, sweetgum, and yes pines. Towards the coast the pine forests take over and the short-leafed and loblolly pines are replaced by the towering long leaf pines. The creak a pine makes when it sways in the wind is one of my favorite sounds.
TMI. What can I say — my undergraduate degree was a BS in environmental science.
