I am having trouble grasping a few things. How mental illness = weakness. I think this is an unfair assessment. Also, I’ve known a lot of people struggling with all kinds of mental illnesses in their lives — and every single one of them would run like hell if a lion were trying to eat them. I am a science graduate (environmental science) so I have had these conversations in depth on the “what if” front, and I understand your questions. But when it comes down to it, equating mental illness with weakness is offensive to those who live with it on a daily basis — and are pretty badass for doing so. I’d be more afraid to have a broken foot or leg if there were a lion looming. And no one would blame the injured.
