I followed up my ending of the toxic relationship by getting drawn into an equally toxic-yet-intoxicating friendship with a narcissist. It was equally painful to end.

Another note: I’ve been with my current boyfriend for 9 years now. When I met him he bored me to tears. But there was something about his compassion, about how he studied me and tried to get to know me — to his own detriment, and in the way he cared for marginalized or hurting people. To date, it is my most rewarding relationship and the one in which I have grown the most. GIVE THOSE ‘MUNDANE” PEOPLE A CHANCE. it might just be “normal.” That just feels weird in the beginning.

Great article!
