I just use columns for the subjects I want to record. It works fine for me. Over time I can just delete older info I don’t need anymore. If a column is too unruly I can make a file just for that information. I have a file just for my poetry submissions, for example. Excel is a pretty useful program. You can “tag” if you want just by changing the background color or font color of an entry.
