My writing tip articles get me paid more than anything else I write, seconded by my poetry. I’d say if the readers enjoy this content enough to engage, then it isn't “spam” as you call it. You have a lot to say recently about what you think is and is not good writing, and who you do and do not think deserves to make a lot (basically who you think deserves to make more than YOU) but this is determined by Medium readers. The successful Medium writer does not just write a good article and sit back to reap the benefits. They study their readers. They produce the content that resonates best with their audience. If you have not found the ability to connect with your audience as well as others, your issue should not be with these writers you have deemed unworthy of their successes, it should be with yourself and with the Medium platform who does not bend itself to your benefit as much as you’d prefer. Do the work of learning what your reader wants and stop complaining about what others are doing. You are getting yourself worked up into such a miserable angst that you are disturbing the Medium experience for a great many people. I hope this is not the success you strive to achieve. You have a lot to offer medium but you are ruining it with a terrible attitude, by talking garbage about other Medium writers and by expressing sexist opinions in your recent articles. Focus on what YOU have to offer and give yourself a break from Medium or something. You sound like a disgruntled employee who hasn’t had a vacation in so long that you can’t even function. Perhaps you have simply “bitten off more than you can chew” and are overwhelmed? You are alienating readers at this point so the damage is not to the writers you condemn (their numbers go UP when you attack them so it is counterproductive) so my advice to you is to take a break from all of this and come back (possibly with an apology!) and a fresh perspective. At this point I am concerned about your mental well-being. Are you experiencing difficulties in your personal life maybe that are tainting your work? Are you under so much stress that it is all getting to you? You have burned bridges with everyone (well, a lot) working closely with you in all your groups — if all your co-workers are running away from working with you, this is a reflection of what it is like working with you. You were a great help to offer advice and help to get me started here on Medium, but any advice always came with a tagline of self-praise, and your making comments to “put me in my place.” Your self-important, arrogant attitude threw red flags high in the air for me so I kept my emotional distance from you and tried to focus on what we did have in common — a love for science and the environment, a desire to help others (although I now question your motives with regards to this), and a love for poetry (although I seriously doubt you have written 11,000 poems in your life and done them WELL). I have tried to read your articles and support you in return but the affect of your writing is so flat that I can hardly bear it. The more technical articles often appear to be computer-generated and robotic. (Yes, as a science major even though I am a female, I can read them and if they were written with better transition and consistency, a better flow of information and thought — I’d be able to understand them.) If your writing isn’t doing well it isn’t simply TOPIC, but the voice behind it. All of this bad attitude and condescension (which you dole out in droves) comes out in your writing and the reader pulls away, sometimes in disgust but at least in confusion. Keep writing about these topics that are important to you but work on the “voice” with which you write them. If you spend much more time on Medium spewing the opinions of late (God, I hope they are merely the result of you “being in a bad place” and not that you truly feel this superior to others) then you will crash and burn or be forced to quit to save face. I want EVERYONE to achieve success here. And it would be nice to see you have continued success by focusing on what you have to offer and offer well and leave all of this griping and backstabbing for the folks over at Facebook. This IS a community of writers — and if you don’t want to be a part of that community by offering value, then perhaps you shouldn’t be here anymore. BE the change you want to see here on Medium, or leave it, or find some way to carry on without attempting to destroy the careers of other Medium writers. For example, you are upset that some more technical-article preferring pubs are leaving Medium — -well stop running all these groups and CREATE the pub that celebrates and drives the articles you believe in. Charge a fee if you want — but promote the material YOU want to see do well on Medium and promote the hell out of it on all those other platforms. YOU get to decide what is and is not good writing by what you allow to be published in that pub — win win right? I have been blunt with you in this comment because your ego can take it. You may have arrived at Medium sooner than I, but that does not make you more wise in all things. Your successes here, and in the Facebook, Twitter etc. groups that you run cannot give you a false sense of writing-based achievement that boosts your ego to the point of a false sense of reality. A dose of humility could teach you far more.
