- Samantha Lazar and I are reviewing all of the new applicants for Submissions editors for The POM. We’ll be making those announcements soon. New editors will need to meet with us both for a training session via Google Meets (time is to be determined soon).
- A new POMprompt is live! Here’s the link for that. This might be one of my favorite POMprompts ever.
- You may have noticed some tagging. I promise this will lessen. I have been doing Welcome posts when I add new POMpoets, so I will rotate the list of tagging so not everyone gets tagged every time. BUT — since I have just started this, I feel I owe the previous POMpoets a feature post as well. I am almost done with the previous-poet feature posts so when I am done with them, you’ll note less tagging. Thanks for your patience as we welcome and celebrate every single POMpoet!
- Overall, our reading stats are down. I hope as the summer months approach here in the US, that we can all take some time out for reading each other’s works as well as submitting our own works. Poems deserve reading…don’t you think? Ever notice the FB threads for nominating your favorite poems by others are the least utilized threads? That’s because we all prefer writing over reading, and it shows. But reading, ultimately, feeds your writing. It’s not charity. It’s part of the writing process that is underappreciated. So, read!
- Overall, submissions have improved, but there are still a lot of submissions coming in that need too much work for publishing. Please refer to the submission guidelines, and be familiar with the work in this tab which is written to help you! Also, here’s a poetry editing checklist that you may find helpful.
- Medium tip: Go to the search bar at the top of your screen and type Poetry. You can go, then, to the poetry page for the tag and see all kinds of cool metrics about poetry, what’s trending, and who’s on top!
