Thank you so much for mentioning A Young Boy at the Border. Is it weird to say that this boy spoke to me and I had to tell his story? Even though I wrote this poem and made this boy completely up — I feel like he is the one who introduced himself to me, told me his story in still, small whispers, and broke my heart in doing so. It hasn’t been read as much as I feel this little boy’s story needs to be heard. I appreciate you helping me to speak for him — and so many others like him.
