Yes, as a cosmetologist for many years, I am familiar with the different types of curly and kinky hair. Mine is actually more 3b/3c — but growing up my parents picked my hair out a lot and yes, it WAS a circle. Though it wasn’t really an afro, it was called that a lot. What really pisses me off looking back now is that it was always meant as an insult. It took me a long time to both make sense of it and to embrace it. There are many types of curl patterns — and they are ALL beautiful. Thanks for reading my story.
